1. What is meant by the word assimilation?
2. In Zitkala-Sa's memoir, School Days of an Indian Girl, she talks about her experiences at a Native American boarding school. One of the experiences she writes about is the cutting of her long hair. How did she feel during and after this experience? Why do you think Native American school children were required to wear their hair short? Was this fair? Why or why not?
